The Organization Connection
Helping Parents and Professionals Live Organized

OK, so who is this Organizing Lady?

Let me tell you a little bit about me…
Many people in the organizing
industry talk about being 'Born Organized'.  I was not perfectly organized at
birth.  On the other hand, I was not always overwhelmed by clutter and chaos
either.  When I was a young girl I would go through stages and my childhood
bedroom would reflect it- there were times when I displayed anything and
everything that was near and dear to me and others where I packed
everything away and let go of what no longer served me.  I always loved filing
out forms, sorting things into categories and enjoyed the ‘weeding’ process
of going through my belongings.  In college, my roommates got tired of me
constantly re-arranging the on-campus furniture to find the ‘most efficient’
use of space and the most pleasing arrangement.

However, in 2000, I went through some major life transitions and this
severely affected my level of organization.

I was going through a
separation and I found myself needing to downsize my living quarters from
1,600 square foot of living space (plus 2 car garage and full basement) to a
~600 square foot apartment.  Needless to say, this was a particularly difficult
time in my life.  In addition to the difficult emotional time I was going through,
the rest of my life and my existing organizational systems were chaos.  I
submersed myself in work (where I was always reasonably organized) and
dedicated my time outside of work to reorganizing my life piece by piece.

I have a background in Project Management in Health Care and
Information Services and have been a professional in those industries for 11
years.  As my experience grew, I began to realize that I had a knack for
organizing, enjoyed creating a vision for others and helping them achieve their
organizing & productivity goals.  I had also learned so much about organizing
and the process.  So in December on 2003, I began organizing for friends and
family.

I made it official in February of 2004 by becoming a member of the
National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) and establishing my
organizing business part-time as I moved my home south to Jacksonville, NC
where I now live with my husband, Chris (who is the SemperFit Fueled to Fight
Dietitian at Camp Lejeune).  I took the opportunity to make this a full time
entrepreneurial adventure in July 2005 and in October 2005 I was named
NAPO Website Chairperson.  I am proud to say that in April 2007, I took and passed the Inaugural Certified Professional Organizer® Exam.  I hope that becoming a Certified Professional Organizer® displays my commitment to personal development, education and to industry standards for professional organizers.

The Latest & Greatest...
My husband and I (and 2 dogs) just moved from Jacksonville, NC (home of Marine Corps Base Camp Lejuene) to Arlington, Virginia in February of 2008 and I am looking forward to sharing my passion for organizing and helping people regain control of their belongings, information, time and space!
