Do you have a pile of things 'to read'? Do you ever actually get around to reading any of them? Designate a home (or several) for your reading materials. Try a reading basket by your favorite chair or sofa in the living area...mine contains mostly catalogs, flyers and periodicals that I'd like to read but that don't require too much concentration. Or a basket by your bed for focused reading...I always have a few books in the queue that I like to read before going to sleep at night. Finally, purchase a zippered mesh pouch (like this one from The Container Store) or poly envelope to contain quick-burst reading items, like tear-outs from magazines, etc. It's amazing what you can read while waiting on an appointment or waiting in line! One more thing- Use your reading container as your guide for how much to keep. Once it's full, you need to go through and let go of the old (recycle if you can). |
